To avoid legal problems.

To avoid product recalls.

To provide product safety information to consumers.

Key Elements For Success

The Industry Standards Committee has reviewed the activities involved with implementing the use of standard methods of identification, packaging, shipping and communicating information about products and shipments. The items listed below should be used as a checklist. It is recommended that companies review each element to ensure that they understand how that element relates to what trading partners expect.

It is important that anyone providing products sold through the Hobby Industry Supply Chain complies with the Consumer Product Safety Act. Pay special attention to:

  • Section 14 "Product Certification And Labeling",

  • Section 15 “Notification And Repair, Replacement For Refund" (Small Parts Incident Reporting.),

  • Section 16 "Inspection And Recordkeeping",

  • Section 17 "Imported Products",

  • Section 18 "Exports",

  • Section 19 "Prohibited Acts"

  • Material Safety Compliance Requirements should always be adhered to.  Check with your trading partner who may be able to provide information about the latest regulations.
