Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been getting more and more press lately. Sometimes it
sounds that other technologies, especially bar codes, will disappear over night.
Not so fast! As usual, there is some “media hype.”
This session will help non-technical executives, managers and
IT professionals to understand the realities to these two closely related
technologies. The session explains the functional similarities and differences,
the strengths and limitations and the things you should know about if you are
(or will be) considering the deployment of RFID technology.
The class will:
- Explain how the technologies
work.
- Identify some of their
strengths and limitations.
- List the points of
consideration.
Students who complete class will be
able to:
- Discuss
system requirements and supply chain needs.
- Cut
through “technology hype” to understand the true benefits of using the
technology.
- Begin to prepare themselves and their companies
for the possible use of RFID.
