[E104] SCM Concepts Instructor: Rick Bushnell Your company will not realize all the potential payback on your ERP investment or the cost of the latest upgrade to your system so you can now use bar codes unless you begin to manage your supply chain. Your company MUST use bar codes and electronic documents if you are going to drive down costs. When you do, you begin to manage your product flow through your supply chain. Using layman’s terms, the class explains supply chain management (SCM) and the capabilities that either new or existing computer systems must have to deliver it. But the class also tells what a company must do to prepare to use the computer systems. Students will learn about simple and even more advanced SCM systems; what benefits they provide, how they work and what is necessary to become involved at any level. These are the systems that facilitate trading partner collaboration based on 100% accurate information contained in bar codes and passed via e-commerce. Students will learn why the SCM concept holds so much promise for many companies and why it is becoming a must for company survival.
