Bruce Philpot
is the Managing Director for the Center for
Automatic Identification at Ohio University.
In that capacity, Bruce is responsible for significantly expanding
the educational and research functions of the Center. Educational opportunities include the annual summer AIDC
Technical Institute on the Ohio University campus as well as one-day
“roadshow” presentations of the Interactive AIDC Learning Lab. He also leads the Ohio University portion of the educational
partnership with InsightU.
A 14-year veteran of the Automatic
Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) business, Bruce spent 12 years with
the Uniform Code Council, the organization responsible for bar coding,
product identification and data communication standards in the retail and
industrial/commercial sectors. While
at the UCC, Bruce’s responsibilities extended into user/member/customer
education on the UCC family of AIDC and Electronic Commerce standards.
He has presented dozens of AIDC technical and business-oriented
sessions for individual companies, AIDC trade shows, retail and non-retail
industry groups, and AIDC standards organizations in North America and
internationally.
Bruce invites all InsightU attendees –
from academic backgrounds, from the business community, from equipment and
service providers, and from the working trade press – to contact him (and
InsightU) to discuss their needs for AIDC educational and research services!
